Kristen's First Surgery
Kristen had her first surgery Aug 16 2006. She had her tonsils & adenoid tissue removed, as they were extremely large & had been causing obstructive sleep apnea. It was supposedly a fairly routine operation, but for a little girl, no operation is any fun or routine. She also had a bad reaction to the anesthesia & it was rather traumatic. Mostly for us, the parents, because it was difficult to watch her struggle. But God has been good & faithful, & we are pleased to report that she's recovering very well now...and we are truly thankful & grateful to our Lord first and foremost, for His love & care, & His hand of healing upon her. We are also especially thankful to all of you who prayed fervently for her, thank you so much for your love for her as well. Here are some pictures we took to "commemorate" the big event in Kristen's life:
Kristen made sure we brought along Kaylie the rabbit, Pooh bear, & her baby blanket!
Here she is waiting to be brought to Pre-Op with daddy & Kaylie
Kristen's being weighed in, in the very large hospital gown!
Kristen's I.V. is FINALLY placed in her hand, after several tries!
So we couldn't take pictures during the surgery, but this is a polaroid shot of the tonsils! They look small here, & it 's not a clear shot, but they were the size of your thumbs!
Grandma came to visit her after the surgery, here's a shot during one of her visits!
"Look ma, my tonsils are gone!"
"Thank you everyone for praying for me!"

  • Kristen is so sweet! Her dimpled smile just brightens up every photo - whether before or after surgery. I think we've got a lot to learn from your little girl. It's not easy to keep smiling regardless of the circumstances... but we ought to when we remember Jesus is here with us. :)
